Apa yang Harus Diharapkan
The Scuba Diving Open Water Certification Program at Scuba Diving Surabaya Academy consists of three main stages.
The first stage is a classroom theory session, where participants learn the fundamental knowledge of scuba diving — including the use of scuba equipment (scuba gear), safe diving procedures, and potential risks while diving.
The second stage is basic scuba diving skills training. In this stage, participants practice directly with instructors to master essential underwater skills such as using scuba equipment, performing basic underwater techniques, and handling simulated emergency situations. This session takes place in shallow water (2–5 meters) or in a swimming pool of similar depth — ideal for participants with limited swimming ability.
After mastering the basic techniques, participants move on to the third stage, which is deep-water training. Here, divers perform open-water dives at depths of 5–10 meters to apply the skills learned earlier, accompanied by professional instructors, dive masters, and an experienced rescue team. The certification program concludes with a fun diving session, where participants enjoy exploring the beauty of the underwater world — diving down to depths of up to 18 meters.
Upon completing the full Scuba Diving Certification Program at Scuba Diving Surabaya Academy, participants will receive an international PADI recreational diving license — recognized worldwide. The certification includes a wall certificate and a convenient license card that fits easily in your wallet.
What’s the purpose of the PADI license card?
After becoming certified, you can dive anywhere in the world. Dive centers will ask to see your PADI license card before renting equipment (such as tanks, weight belts, BCDs, and regulators) or providing a dive guide (Dive Master). If you don’t have a certification, most dive centers will require you to take their Open Water course first or limit you to an Introductory Scuba Diving or Scuba Discovery experience (up to 5–7 meters deep). Certified divers, however, enjoy the full adventure — exploring deeper waters of 18–40 meters and experiencing the true thrill of diving.
